Is your wireless transmitter set up off sync with your flash? If you put your wireless receiver onto your camera's hot shoe and your external speedlite on top of that same receiver while the camera is set to remote mode, then that's the problem. When you do this, the camera will shot perfectly and so will the flash, but it will not be properly synchronized. Instead put your flash onto your hot shoe directly to get the right exposure and you can now do your portrait or event photography wirelessly.
