Microsoft Surface Studio Preview: Did Microsoft Out Apple Apple?

How cool is this 28 inch touch screen on the Surface Studio? I think it's pretty cool though I question the need for such a large touch screen for the masses.

Yes for some creatives, a very limited number a touch screen like this will be useful. But for my personal workflow I don't see how touching Adobe Lightroom would be better for me than using the mouse at this time.

I think Microsoft has done something that Apple hasn't done in a little while which is come out with a truly interesting product.

I think the large screen will be awesome for displaying my photos and showing off videos. On the flip side the computer is pricy starting at 3k and topping out at $4,199.

Macbook Pro 2016 Preview: Will I be getting one?

Macbook Pro 2016 Thoughts: Will I be getting one or not?

****As a quick heads-up I meant to say 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports****

There's a lot of commentary out there on the NEW Macbook Pro 2016 version which added the "touch bar". I decided to hold off on making a video for a day to get as much information as possible and make some decision for myself.

Yes the touch bar is cool but no I don't think it's going to be highly functional.

Yes I like that the screen is now 67% brighter, who wouldn't like that.

NO I don't like that it did away with all legacy ports in place of 4 USB C ports. That means no USB 3.0, No HDMI, No Magsafe. Yes and this means you can't plug your iphone into the computer without a new cable or adapter.

Speaking of adapters, in order to use almost anything you own you will need to get an adapter to USB C to let you connect it to this computer.

The moral of the story is the computer looks fantastic. It's smaller and lighter which is always a bonus but will I be buying one.

As of right now I wont be buying one for me but I think in the next few months I will be picking one up for Stephen for him to use for video editing.

When docs and drives come out with USB C I think it will end up being a good move but in the meantime it's a tough pill to swallow. What do you think.

Why I Got YELLED At For Being On Stage At The Gavin DeGraw Show: Was I Wrong?

It's always nice when the artist says "bro, you can go wherever you want to go" in regards to shooting photos at a show.

So why did I still get yelled at for being on stage? I explain this at the end of the video, i'm still trying to figure it out.

I photographed the Gavin DeGraw show in Philly the other day for fun and to clear my mind. I took out the Nikon D5 along with a bunch of glass like the hebrew trinity and the new 105 F1.4 Nikon.

All images were edited in Adobe Lightroom CC which is what I use to unlock the power of my RAW files.

Here we're demonstrating the Fujifilm X-T2's subject tracking. The camera is in Wide/Tracking mode with a manually-selected AF point (since Face Detection mode reverts to contrast detection AF).

Shot using the XF 16-55mm F2.8 OIS LM, you can see the camera takes some time to refocus, even in the reasonably well-lit indoor environment. However, the camera continues to recognize its subject even when another, closer object takes up its original position in the scene.

Sony RX100 V: Video Quality Sample Reel

Sony's RX100 line has always been a capable video tool, as well as stills. With the latest Mark V version, Sony has added phase detection autofocus which limits focus hunting, as well as oversampled 4K for incredibly detailed footage. Take a look at its 4K footage, 1080p footage (scaled to 4K), high frame rate footage and the effectiveness of its image stabilization in this sample reel.

The only adjustments made were to conform the higher frame rate clips to 30p, and to upscale as necessary to fill the frame (there is no change in crop-factor when going to 1080p as long as you haven't enabled active or intelligent active IS, the shift in the fountain shot was just a reframing of the camera on our tripod). Otherwise, all clips are straight-out-of-camera.
