Nikon 105mm F1.4 Lens Preview: BEST / Sharpest Portrait Photography Lens Ever Made? http://froknowsphoto.com/nikon-105mm-f1-4-lens-preview/
105mm is one of the best focal lengths for capturing portraits. Having the 1.4 ability means you will be able to isolate your subject and get tremendous compression. I need you to remember that simply because you have the ability to shoot at 1.4 doesn't mean you should.
Is this $2,200 lens for you or are you better off with a 70-200 2.8 VR II for a hundred bucks less? I think it's pretty simple, if you one can afford it and two have a need for a prime 105mm F1.5 then you can't go wrong. But if you're looking for a versatile option for sports, portraits, weddings and pretty much anything more, you can't go wrong with the 70-200 2.8 VR II option.
